Thread: Questions on getting ps1 games

I'm new to PSP Blender and I've been reading on how to get all this homebrew stuff working and its all a bit confusing. The first thing I would like to do is get Final Fantasy VII on my psp. I'm currently downloading a torrent of it from Blender. Its coming in 3 folders, cd1, cd2, and cd3. Inside cd1 folder is EBOOT.PBP . Inside cd2 folder is EBOOT.PBP and a file called KEYS. cd3 folder is the same as cd2. My psp is version 3.03.

So what do I need to download and whats steps do I need to take in order to get this working? Also, if I do the downgrading, will I still be able to play recently released UMD games? Thanks for any help!

OK So I managed to downgrade to 1.50. I've downloaded PSP BREW. Am I doing this right so far? I loaded the first FF7 cd pbp and when I try it is says it corrupted. In the bottom right corner it says DISC 1 PAL. I recall reading something about PAL games, can anyone help me out? For now I will retry saving it on my mem card.

well i would try to help you but im just beggining to understand the psx games myself..... my suggestion would be to pm HaXaLoT and wait for him to get on...he will help you

Ok, you did the first thing right by downgrading to 1.5....But you cannot run playstation games from 1.5, you need to install custom firmware 3.03 oe-c or higher in order to run those....Here is a link for custom firmware..Be sure to read the faq's about the custom firmware before installing to make sure you don't brick your psp, if you downgraded to 1.5, then you shouldn't have any problems..after you have installed custom firmware 3.03 oe-c, then get back to me, and I will help you from there to loading the games...HaXaLoT

@Haxalot, would u say that 3.03 oe-c is better than 3.40 oe-a, if so why?

3.03 oe-c has the best compatibility with psx games, so if you are looking to be able to get the most out of your psx games on your psp, then 3.03 oe-c is best...

however, 3.40 oe is higher firmware, so you can play any psp game that requires firmware up to 3.40, as to with 3.03 oe -c, any psp game that requires 3.10 or higher will not load....so if it is psp games you are after, then 3.40 oe is better....HaX
