Thread: 8GB Pro Duo Stick Only See's The First 4GB

It’s a bit of a strange one I have a Sony PSP 1000 Jap version which is running PSP firmware 3.40 I have just purchased a 8GB Pro Duo stick and when I copy home brew games to the stick it will only see the first 4GB of games when I browse them from the PSP and the other games that make up the other 4GB are not visible but it displays the total size of the stick as being 8GB and if I insert the memory stick into my PC I can view the whole list.

I just wanted to ask if anyone knew why this is, is it because it’s a version 1000 or might I have a dodgy memory stick.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hmm... I think i remember reading about this when i was in the market for my stick... i recall something from sony saying that the firmware only suported up to 4GB because the 8 GB werent practicle at the time... so my guess is that it is your firmware version because i think they made the 8GB work on the 3.5 version.... not that i would recomend upgrading on that... i say wait for a custom firmware that suports it...until then the 4gb really is all you need... im using one and i havent run out of room(although im almost always near a source for more stuff) so although its agrevating i say just use the 4 gb you can and wait for a custom firmware to suport 8 gigs

8gb mem stick is not compatible with psp firmware 3.40 and lower, 3.50 or higher is required...Official sony 3.50, as well as custom firmware 3.51 m33 have both tested fine with 8gb mem stick, but beware of fake mem sticks going around..I suggest only purchasing sony brand mem stick pro duo.....HaXaLoT
