Both are completely different. One is a handheld system (PSP), and the other is a home console (PS2). PSP 1. If your on the go all of the time and are usually bored. 2. If you enjoy handheld gaming. 3. If you have a big gaming piggy bank waiting to be smashed, the time is now if you get the PSP. PSP requires alot of fixing to its screen, loose buttons, broken pixels Etc. 4. If you want both gaming and Movie watching put into an affordable price. The PSP has UMD (Universal Media Disc) Movies, meaning you can bring movies on the go and watch them on your PSP. 5. If you dont have a Cell Phone and you need one, PSP can be used as one. All you need is to download the SKYPE program into it and pay a monthly fee. PS2 1. If you have a low gaming budget, because the PS2 isnt in your hands all day, it doesnt break or anything, so the PS2 will very rarely malfunction or break. 2. If you would enjoy at home gaming more than handheld. 3. If you want more expanded gaming. The PSP is a handheld, so remember that the games wont even be very long so if you like long storylines, PS2. 4. If you would rather rent games than purchase. Most gaming and movie renting retailers dont offer PSP games to rent, due to the chance of someone losing them. 5. If your eyes get tired from looking at small screens, or your neck gets tired from bending it down, or your hands get tired from holding such a cramped up system, then the PSP is not for you. Go with the PS2. Hope this was decent help

Save your money. The PSP is getting an upgrade in the not-too-distant future, and the prices on the PS3 will be dropping as Xbox 360 continues to outsell the PS3. It won't be as cheap as a PS2, but if you're a Sony-phile, you might as well save up for something that will last you a little bit longer. PS2 games will eventually go by the wayside when the next console comes out.

I would rather go with PSP than PS2, not only because I have a PS3, but because I am a huge portable gamer and I really enjoy movies on the go.
