The consoles cost less because they are specifically designed to read discs for playing games. When there's a console that can run actual business applications, and store tons of information, we WILL have a party.

The consoles cost less because they are taking a loss on the consoles. They are taking a loss on the consoles because they are almost useless without games. The strategy is to take a loss on consoles, and make it up with the games

I bet a console can easily run an operating system -- people have managed to run linux on a PlayStation 2. If they do that, of course, then people would buy consoles and not buy games, which would actually make them lose money.

Because of this I don't think they will allow consoles to run business applications any time soon.

It would be interesting if they could though wouldn't it ? it would change a lot of things.

Game developers should also consider cutting the cost of their games so that the users can afford them. If the users can afford than they will not patronize those pirated ones. This is only the reason why the pirated ones do exist.

Are these the same kind of people that operate their refrigerators via thier computer? You know, the guys with wayyy too much time on their hands? I dunno, running everything from the TV -- I know that's where the medium is eventually going to go and the personal computer will cease to exist, but I'm just not READY for that yet.

I don't think they can actually lower the cost of the games, because they have to make up for the extortionate (yes, extortionate) cost of the development kit. The Playstation 3 Development Kit used to cost $20,500. They just lowered it to $10,250 last November.

This is one hell of a great post, I must appreciate it.

Yes, I've been dying to say that. People should come up and support PC gaming, its really not to be compared with consoles. Support it, its high time, for example people like Epic are widthrawing from primary PC gaming. For those that are thinking, I am referring to the announcement that Unreal Engine 4 will be primarily for consoles!

I think you need a good graphics memory and also a heavy RAM. Then you need a good power supply and a good LCD monitor. Further, you can think of a nice controller and also go for microsoft keyboard and mouse. A gaming mouse will be more suitable. Intel on board graphics are of no use.

i agree with you, The game developers are using stratagies to lure the clients to get cheap consoles but later they make up for the loss by releasing expensive ghames. Now the people(including me) are getting addicted to consoles and dont enjoy much with pc gaming.
