now i know just about everyone has a favourite between these two but i thought i would share my thoughts on the matter. i have always been a playstation girl and absolutely loved the ps2. but when it came round to upgrading i decided to try out the xbox 360. and i have to say that i think i might be a convert. i think the set up is great and the graphics are amazing. however i can see me still ending up with a ps3 in the future as well lol

I think you should have faith in sony. I think ps3 is the best console we have. Xbox is very popular but the charcterstics of ps3 are unbeatable.

I think you should try PS3, its a monster machine. Don't know if any current game utilizes it to its potential. Try it and you would resist conversion for sure.

I loved my PS2 also, and I always went on about how much I hated Xbox and blah blah blah. I made fun of Halo all the time, and then once the 360 came out and I played my friends' I was like: "Woah. It's not that bad." I decided to use up my saved money to buy one and I'm loving it. I love Xbox Live, I think it's worth the money, and I think that it has a great setup and the game play for games like Call of Duty 4 are out of this world. I don't think I would mind getting a PS3, but I would definitely wait until the price has dropped a lot.

Yea its better to get a PS3 some time later rather than compromising with 360. You yourself said, "Woah. It's not that bad." So I think you are not fully satisfied with 360 yet. Correct me if I am wrong.

Hi there. I own both systems so i think i can be unbiased here. Sony has the better console with more potential than the 360. However the ps3 isnt getting the games or the online structure and support that it needs and desereves. While 360 is the weaker machine it is getting more attention and support from all developers and xbox live unfortunately blows ps3's online out of the water. Another factor hurting the ps3 is titles such as Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy going Cross Platform. Finally there is the price issue. Yes the ps3 is rather expensive but ur not looking at the whole picture. It is not only a console but also a fully function web browser and media system with hi def blue ray capabilities to boot. The blue ray component makes it well worth the money as most cheap blue ray player are still $500+. So really the ps3 is a bargain not to mention u dont have to worry about the red ring of death. Now the 360's with HD-DVD capabilities are nice but heres the draw back. Bluray one the format war and there will no longer be any movies released on HD-DVD. This is going to make the movies on this format rare and hard to come by with no new material being released so that kinda makes its presence in the 360 novel at best and useless realy.

Why PS3 is pitiful compared to Xbox 360 Quite simply put, lack of online features, onlline features are a requirement for the seventh generation gamer, and it is in this area that Sony cannot deliver. You cannot do any of the following on PSN: Send cross-game invites, Have people join in-game, Have cross-game voice chats, you can't access the menu while in-game, You can't access your friends list or send friend invites while in-game. Xbox 360 has all of these features, most in thanks to the Guide Blade that you can access with the center button, not to mention you can access your MSN messenger and talk to people on MSN while playing your game. Now for the speed, for an example i'm going to talk about update times. When a PS3 needs an update, it tells you when you boot up the console (same on Xbox), you then have to go into the Web browser, go to the page, agree to the Terms, and then download the update, which can take between 5-10 minutes, then exit and reboot your console. On Xbox 360, when need an update, the Guide blade pops up when you boot up the console, and asks: "Update, yes or no?" when you select yes, the download immediately starts and takes between 10 and 20 seconds. Now for online Media and Entertainment. PS3 has a web browser (which I personally don't see the point of when you could just simply use your computer) that has all the standard features of a web browser, but doesn't do anything a normal computer couldn't with the internet. The PS3 store has demos and movies you can download, but then again so does the 360. Here is where it starts to differ. First of all, on the Xbox 360 Market place is right there on the dashboard, no loading times required, but on the PS3, you have to open the web browser and then wait for the web page to load which can get to be very annoying. With the 2008 fall update coming to Xbox which will have the Netflix service available, allowing users to rent over 10,000 movies directly to their 360, the PS3 will only shrink in comparison. PS3 has no immediate plans for such a feature in the future. And as for the the Achievement system vs the Trophy system, Microsoft came out with that idea first, and this is a blatant attempt by Sony to emulate the Xbox. And if you're going to bitch about the price, 60$ for a whole year of service is well worth it my friend, you get what you pay for. PSN is free because Sony knows that's the only way they could pass PSN off with it's lack of features (honestly, would YOU pay 60$ a year for PSN if it wasn't free?). And even if Sony eventually fixes these problems with an update, that there is the key word, "eventually". If Sony cares so much about it's users, than why make them wait an eternity for a simple patch? Sony is inexperienced in the area of online play, and it will be a LONG time before it's even in the same universe as Xbox Live. It'll be a long, cold, day in hell before that's true. |
