PS2 would be the better choice. Some would even pick PS2 over PS3 what with the backward compatibility issue. Sony themselves say that PS3 is not a replacement for PS2.

I played a lot on ps1 till i got my ps2, it completely occupied me and i never thought of playing the old games on my ps1 again.

PS1 was just an old warhorse, PS2 is what redefined console gaming, and amongst the two I would prefer PS2, because it is a decent combo of graphics and some amazing games.

Sold my PS1 shortly after I got my PS2 - which I still have since the PS3 is broken/made cheaper by removing an engine reversal component but I'd say I play equal time on both. I only have 5 PS1 ames (Spyro 1 and 2, Digimon 1 and 3, and Crash 2) but I get hours of playtime out of them. PS2 has good games as well but you do have to loo in some obscure places for games I like. (Such as Scaler and Harvest Moon) Anyway, just saying that since I figured it didn't really mattr if you had both consoles as long as you played the games for both. XD  |

Ps2. just for the fact that once i got my ps2, ps1 games just ended up gathering dust. whether or not i liked them once or not.

This really depends on the game. But, since the PS2 can play PS1 games, I would say 2 is the one

why play on PS1 when you can play the games on PS2?
