The playstation name has been around for quite some time. But I am talking about the success of the Playstation 2 today. The PS2 has been entertaining people for about 8 years now and there is still new games coming out regularly. The ps2 was first released on the market in 2000, it was announced in 1999. It is still a very good console and many people including myself are still playing it. The graphics are excellent with the newer games and for the buck it is a great deal. According to Wikipedia, Sony Sold 127 million units by the year 2007. That is a lot of games. Wikipedia also said that on November 27, 2005 the PS2 became the fastest game console to reach 100 million units shipped. That is pretty amazing. The Ps2 is still selling consoles today, although the PS3 is out now the sales have naturally went down. The PS3 might be out but many people are still holding on to the PS2 because of the high price of the ps3. I think that as long as Sony keeps creating and marketing new games for the ps2, people are going to hang on to it. With popular games such as Guitar Hero, Rock band, Lord of War, Hit man, and many more still available for the playstation I can see why people are holding on to it. Yes Playstation 3 has many new features such as a built in hard drive and blu ray capability, but that is not enough for a gamer on a budget. The Ps3 is nice but I am going to wait until the price drops quite a bit more before I get one. Let me know what you think!

When i had an option to choose from ps2 and ps3, i opted for ps2 because it has proven its capabilities and there are plenty of good games made for it.

Why everyone is underestimating ps3? Ps3 has the best features among all the current consoles. There amy not be plenty of games available but it gives you wonderful game playing experience and this is why its most expensive.

The reason is basically very plain. PS3 is not yet utilized fully, and with backward compatibility issues, many prefer to go with console with more games. Wait for a year or so and you would see a changed scenario.
