My only system at the moment is a laptop running Vista home basic. Will any of my old favorites like East Front or Panzer General run on this? And if not, is there a workaround?

See, the trick with Vista is you have to go to "properties" and run stuff as an admistrator. Also you might have to select it to run as another Windows platform eg. Windows 95.
